Community Service

As a responsible corporate citizen, SLA's primary concern is to help the less fortunate. In particular, our hearts go out to children in need. SLA has, in the past few years, adopted different children charities and created many activities and fundraisers for them.

2006-present: Yishun Student Care Service (YSCS)

Currently, we have adopted the Yishun Students Care Service (YSCS), a voluntary welfare organisation which is committed to enabling the full potential of disadvantaged students by nurturing their physical, emotional and mental well-being.

Our staff organised activities with YSCS such as the 'SLA Charity Giftbox' to bring joy and cheer to the children of the Gracehaven. We were also delighted to have the YSCS children join us at our SLA Family Day and Annual Dinner and Dance.

2004-2006: Singapore Children's Society (SCS)

SLA adopted the Singapore Children's Society, a voluntary welfare organisation for all races, religions and creeds, which is committed to protect the physical, emotional and mental well-being of children, particularly the disadvantaged and those at risk.

Our staff organised activities such as 'Party at the Zoo' and 'Walk for our Children' to bring joy and cheer to the children of the SCS. We were also glad to have the children join us at our year-end lunches and our annual dinner and dance.

Other activities
We have also been active in other charitable activities like the President's Challenge, the Yellow Ribbon Project, the National Heritage Fund donation drive and the Courage Fund. We were glad also to hold our charity day at the MINDS Tampines Home. In recognition of our efforts, the National Council of Social Services presented us with the SHARE Silver award from 2002 to 2004.

SLA staff joined our fellow Singaporeans in the humanitarian effort to help victims of the tsunami which hit Asia on 26 December 2004. We were at the SLA-Mercy Relief Collection Centre on Lowland Road, together with volunteers from Mercy Relief, to help unload, sort and pack donated items for the tsunami victims.
